CPC Official Meets ROK Guests
Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with a delegation from the Republic of Korea's Millennium Democratic Party, headed by its Standing Consultant Chung Dong Young, in Beijing Thursday.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) were good neighbors. Bilateral exchanges and cooperation in such fields as politics, economics and culture had seen rapid growth since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992.

Li said China valued the active efforts by far-sighted members of the ROK government, political parties and non-government circles to develop bilateral relations.

Li expressed the wish that the CPC and the Millennium Democratic Party would carry out broader cooperation and exchanges so as to raise party-to-party relations and jointly build an increasingly healthy, stable and vigorous partnership between China and the ROK.

Chung, also a member of the ROK National Assembly, expressed his sincere congratulations on the success of the 16th National Congress of the CPC. As friendly neighbors, the ROK and China shared similar stances on many important international and regional issues.

Chung praised China's contribution to maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, adding the ROK was willing to promote friendly bilateral cooperation. He also hoped the CPC would make further progress in building a well-off society.
