US Congressional Delegation Visits Pyongyang
A US congressional delegation arrived here Friday, beginning a three-day visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The six-member delegation, led by Republican Rep. Curt Weldon, who serves as vice chairman of the Armed Services Committee of US House of Representatives, will discuss "important issues" with DPRK officials, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said.

But the KCNA did not specify the talks.

The delegation is reportedly to meet Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, over the nuclear issue.

Shortly before leaving for the DPRK, Weldon told the press that "We are on a fact-finding mission to open doors for dialogue."

This is the first US delegation to visit the DPRK since the nuclear crisis began last October.
