China-made HDTVs Sold to US Army
A Chinese manufacturer in Xiamen, Fujian Province in east China is to supply 5,000 high-definition televisions (HDTV) to the United States military, according to the Xiamen Daily.

Xiamen Overseas Chinese Electronics Co, Ltd was appointed a long-term supplier by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), a department in charge of purchasing for the military in the US government.

According to the contract signed between the two sides, a total of 45,000 HDTVs will be delivered to the US military within a year.

The AAFES has a strict policy on the credentials of its suppliers and at the beginning of negotiations, never countenanced purchasing such hi-tech products from Chinese manufacturers.

However, the purchaser found that the performance of the products went far beyond expectations with some indexes even higher than the same level HDTVs made in the Republic of Korea and Japan.
