China, Japan Sign Agreement on Funding for Training of Chinese Officials
China and Japan have worked out a plan for 93 million Japanese Yen (US$78.8 million) of funding for Chinese government officials to study in Japan, according to the Ministry of Commerce (MOC).

Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce An Min and Japanese Ambassador to China Koreshige Anami signed the Human Resource Development Scholarship agreement in Beijing Tuesday.

The 93 million Yen will come from Japan's assistance to China.

The program, initiated in September 2002, aims to train Chinese administrative officials with high potential, the MOC said.

China has dispatched 40 officials to study in Japan under the program and the new fund will serve as payment for part of future study fees.
