Chinese CMC Vice-Chairman Holds Talks with Thai Deputy PM

Cao Gangchuan, vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), held talks in Beijing Tuesday with Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, deputy prime minister of Thailand.

Cao, also China's state councilor and defense minister, said that the two nations cherish a traditional friendship and their relations have remained stable and healthy ever since they forged diplomatic ties, setting a model of friendly co-existence for countries with different social systems.

With the efforts of both sides, their armed forces have also cooperated well, exerting a positive influence on national ties and regional security, Cao said, expressing hope that the relations will see further progress.

Chavalit said Thailand attaches importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations between the two armed forces, and hoped to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchanges.

They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.

The guests are here at the invitation of Cao.
