Ecuador Reiterates Adherence to One-China Policy

Ecuador's National Congress President Guillermo Landazuri reiterated in Quito Monday that the Ecuadorian parliament will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.

Landazuri made the remarks at a meeting with a Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation led by Liu Hongcai, deputy head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

It is a right of the Chinese people to seek national reunification, and the National Congress of Ecuador fully supports this legitimate demand of the Chinese people by sticking to the one-China policy, Landazuri said.

He spoke highly of the increasingly important role of China in world political and economic affairs.

The Ecuadorian parliament keeps a friendly relationship with the Chinese people, Landazuri said. He welcomed the CPC delegation, saying the visit would further enhance the development of ties between the two parliaments and peoples.

Liu appreciated the Ecuadorian parliament's adherence to the one-China policy.

The CPC delegation arrived in Quito late Sunday.
