Chinese State Councilor Meets Canadian DM

China is ready to make joint efforts with Canada to promote the relations between the two countries and their armed forces, Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan said in Beijing Wednesday while meeting John McCallum, minister of national defense of Canada.

Tang said that China is satisfied with its relations with Canada, and that the two countries have been engaged in developing an all-round and cooperative partnership toward the 21st century.

McCallum said that he is here to promote the contacts with Chinese leaders so as to push forward the existing friendly relations between Canada and China.

The dialogue on human rights and the cooperation on other fields between Canada and China have yielded good results, he said, adding that he hopes the two countries can strengthen exchange and cooperation in military affairs.
