China Opposes US Listing of China as Major Drugs Producer

China expressed discontent at and opposition to a United States government report, in which China is listed as a major drugs producer and trafficker, Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing Friday.

US President George Bush has submitted this report to Congress. "The US act is wrong," said Kong.

He said the Chinese government has made drugs prohibition a priority and set forth policies and measures to prohibit drugs. China has also kept close contact with all nations including the United States in this regard and made remarkable achievements, he added.

China hoped the US side would respect these facts and correct its mistake, Kong said.
