An Indian navy fleet, consisting of the cruiser "Ranjit", the frigate "Kulish" and the comprehensive supply ship "Jyote", arrived Monday in Shanghai for a five-day visit.

Indian Vice-Admiral Om Prakash Bansal, who commanded the fleet's 985 men, met with Zhao Guojun, commander of the East China Sea Fleet, after arriving in Shanghai.

The crew is also scheduled to tour a missile destroyer made with by Chinese technology.

It is the fourth time an Indian naval fleet has visited Shanghai.

The 146.5-meter-long and 15.8-meter-wide cruiser "Ranjit", with a full displacement of 4,974 tons, went into service in 1983.
