One ship sank Thursday after collision in severe snowstorm near Canakkale Strait of northwestern Turkey, Anatolia News Agency reported.

Liberian-flagged cargo ship, the Solar Europe, broke free of its mooring at Karabiga port of Canakkale Province due to snowstorm and rammed into the St Vincent-flagged "Mare" which was at the same harbor, according to the report.

Mare sank after the collision, said the report, adding that its eleven crew members were rescued and one Syrian crew member was missing.

Officials were searching for the missing crew member, the report added.
