Uganda Reiterates One-China Policy

The acting permanent secretary of the Ugandan Foreign Ministry reiterated in Kampala Tuesday that the Ugandan government supports a one, strong, prosperous and united China.

While meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Li Qiangmin, Julius Onen said his country is concerned with the development in Taiwan after the recent elections which have given rise to violence, demonstrations and confrontations.

He told the Chinese ambassador that Uganda advocates a peaceful dialogue between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.

Onen said that Uganda remains willing and ready to contribute to any activity that will result in the peaceful reunification of the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
