China Sends 2nd Batch of Engineering Troops for Peacekeeping in Liberia

China's second batch of 205 engineering troops for peacekeeping efforts and eight military medical workers left Shenyang for Liberia Tuesday, according to sources with the Ministry of National Defense.

The first batch of engineering troops to Liberia, including 70 officers and soldiers, have already arrived in Liberia, according to the sources.

The second batch of peacekeeping troops of 205 members have passed several tests and met the United Nations requirements.

Upon arriving in Liberia, they will mainly undertake non-military missions including paving roads, maintaining and constructing airports, and working for water and electricity supply.

This peacekeeping mission is scheduled to last about one year.
