Premier Wen Appreciates WHO Stance on One-China Policy

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Tuesday expressed appreciation of the World Health Organization's adherence to the one-China policy.

Wen made the remarks during a meeting with WHO Director General Lee Jong-Wook in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Tuesday afternoon.

Wen said the Chinese central government has always cared for the health and well-being of the people in Taiwan and adopted active measures to push forward medical and public health exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.

Wen said the central government welcomes experts from Taiwan to join the Chinese delegation to the World Health Assembly.

Wen said China is ready to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with the WHO, saying he is satisfied with the rich fruits of the cooperation.

The premier also reiterated the government's emphasis on the role of public health in promoting all-round social progress and sustainable economic growth.
