Santana Sales Remain Strong in January
Shanghai Volkswagen sold a total of 9,006 Santana and 2,311 Passat series sedans in China in January 2002, maintaining its dominance in the country's sedan market, according to an article that appeared on sina.com.cn, quoting unidentified sources.

The article said FAW Volkswagen came in second. It sold 6,188 Jetta series sedans, 2,116 Bora and 2,043 Audi series sedans in the first month of the year. Its domestic market share increased from 18 percent to 20.6 percent.

Tianjin Xiali came in third with 8,872 units sold in the month.

Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co Ltd and Fengshen Motor Co Ltd, both based in Guangzhou, sold 4,382 and 1,771 sedans respectively in January. A total of 4,100 Fukang series sedans, 2,877 Buick and Sail series sedans, and 2,158 Hongqi (Red Flag) were also sold.
