First Taxi Emblem Debuts in Hangzhou

Hangzhou became the first city in the country to have its own taxi emblem as a red zigzag-shaped logo was chosen after votes by both citizens and a panel of experts on Sunday.

The emblem, designed by Zhou Weiguo, vice managing director of Shengzhou Taxi Co.Ltd, was singled out from five candidate emblems and will appear as badges in caps of the cabbies.

The taxi emblem, written in Chinese calligraphy, looks like the "three ponds reflecting the moon," a scenic spot at the West Lake, and a colored ribbon, representing a bridge connecting the friendship of the citizens in the city.
