Help Tour for Heyuan Kids

A non-government organization recently started a new mode of sponsoring children's education. People can take a bus free of charge to Heyuan to sponsor education for poor children after doing their own investigations.

The Guangdong foundation for orphans and poor children's education have organized a trip to Heyuan on Saturday. Participants will be taken to disadvantaged areas in Heyuan. While the trip is free, participants are expected to provide financial help for the education of poor children.

Since it was set up six months ago, 56 children had gone back to school with help from the foundation. A Danish American identified as Hanson donated US$25,000 to help set up the foundation. After going to Heyuan with his wife, he donated another US$15,000 to help renovate school buildings.

The foundation is non-profit and the directors are all volunteers.

The deadline for the Heyuan trip and financial aid registration is 3 PM Thursday. Participants (with their children if they want) will meet at the east gate of Tianhe Sports Center to take the bus to Heyuan. The foundation will be responsible for transport costs. People are welcome to take their own cars at their own expense.

A Web site, http://oes coscogz.com.cn, is showing some Heyuan children's brief introduction. Participants can call 020-8777, 7268 or e-mail to gzoes@yahoo.com.cn or wst@coscogz.com.cn
