Brazilian divers in hopes of securing an Olympic spot
Adjust font size:

The Brazilian diving team will travel to Beijing on Sunday to compete in a World Cup event.

The competition will take place between February 19-25 and will define who will take part in the Olympics Games in August.

The national team will count on five athletes to secure the Olympic spot: Cesar Castro, Cassius Duran, Hugo Parisi, Ubirajara Barbosa and Juliana Veloso.

Castro has already secured a spot in the 3-meter diving by receiving the 8th place in the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne in March, 2007.

"I hope that all five athletes qualify. They all have chances of receiving a spot in each of their events," said Alice Kohler, the supervisor of the Brazilian team.

Before arriving at the Water Cube, the venue of the World Cup, the Brazilians will train four days in Tianjin, roughly 90 minutes from Beijing.
