China's first financial service system via mobile phones has been put into use nationwide.

The system, jointly developed by China Unicom and China Construction Bank, can provide such services as bank account inquiry, remittance and foreign exchange transactions to mobile phone users.

To access the service, China Unicom subscribers need to download banking software to their mobile phones.

More than 2000 China Unicom users have subscribed to the service.
