The Ministry of Science and Technology says China has greatly improved technologies in examining food security.

The ministry says China has invested one billion yuan, or more than US$120 million in researching a number of key testing technologies and equipment.

It says China has also set up a food import and export monitoring and warning system, and has enhanced its ability to test for food for traces of pesticide residue.
