Financial Support to Favor Selected IT Technologies

The Ministry of Information Industry (MII)has announced this year's eight important innovative technologies which will gain government and social financial support.

The eight programs are all advanced information technologies developed by companies with intellectual property rights, including GoTa digital, trunking technology from ZTE and a high-performance server upgrading technology from Langchao Electronic Information Industry Co., Ltd.

Since 2001, the MII has attracted over 230 programs and 28 of them have been selected for special support, said Lou Qinjian, vice-minister of the ministry.

China's information industry has entered a stage of getting stronger and the improvement of the ability of self-innovation will be the core task for the information industry in upcoming five years, Lou said.

During the 2006-2010 period, China will extend active support to the research and development of core and key technologies such as integrated circuits, software and key components, and their industrialization, said Lou.

Over the past five years, the selection of important technologies has become the guide to the development of the country's information industry.

Datang Mobile's IMT 2000 TD-SCDMA system research program was selected in 2001 and has gained 6 million yuan (US$740,740) from the national electronic development fund.
