China to Launch Int'l Digital Info-Service & Tech Show
China will hold its first international exhibition of digital public information services and technology on July 8-12, aiming to promote the country's digital library project.

Sources from one of the event's hosts, the National Library of China, say that the four-day exhibition will have the world's latest achievements in this field on display.

The world's leading digital information equipment manufacturersand related technology and information service suppliers, including Hewlett Packard, 3COM, Alcatel and Nortel have agreed to display their latest products. Their counterparts in China, Legend, Founder Huawei and Unicom will be present as well.

Special pavilions in the China International Exhibition Center will hold digital libraries, museums and archives. Some 20 domestic institutions will take the opportunity to show their latest developments and discuss cooperation with commercial suppliers.

An international seminar on the cooperation and sustainable development of digital libraries will be held during the show. Topics on digital information standards, mode and sharing as well as issues concerning intellectual property will be discussed.

The exhibition is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and supported by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation,along with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, General Administration of Press and Publication and the Beijing municipal government.
