Two Students to Represent HKSAR at Youth Forum of ITU TELECOM ASIA 2002
Two university student winners will represent Hong Kong at the first ever International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Youth Forum for Asia, to be held in Hong Kong in early December 2002.

The Hong Kong, China Secretariat (HKCS) established at the Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA) for ITU TELECOM ASIA 2002 made the announcement Saturday.

The two winning Youth Fellows are Alan Chan Kwok-Lun from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Vicky Yuen Sze-Ling from the University of Hong Kong. They will represent the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR) to participate in the Youth Forum to be held during the ITU TELECOM ASIA 2002 from December 2 to 7, 2002, which will take place once again at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center with a mega-scale exhibition and high-level forum sessions.

The same ITU TELECOM ASIA event was hosted by Hong Kong in 2000 with great success and the organizer, ITU, has decided to come back to Hong Kong for their ITU TELECOM ASIA 2002.

Chan and Yuen will join a corps of over 100 youth

representatives from 55 ITU members in the Asia-Pacific region and attend a full week of forum sessions and side activities, which would place them among the key decision makers of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector and offer them access to the latest ICT developments in a cross cultural and multi-disciplinary context.

The Youth Forum is a highlighted element of this year's ITU TELECOM ASIA 2002, which will take place concurrent with the main forum in Hong Kong. This is a new initiative of ITU TELECOM and a first ever such event in Asia, after the successful launch of the Youth Forum in Africa in November 2001.
