Dozens of Chinese and foreign scientists and experts, and several hundred business people gathered in Hefei Friday to discuss development of technology industries and effective ways to attract capital for high-tech projects.
Attending the November 8-10 forum in Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province, are scientists and experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the State Intellectual Property Office, Tsinghua and Peking Universities, Harvard University of the United States, and officials from the French embassy and other foreign institutions in China.
The three-day event has also attracted business people from the United States, France, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The forum will focus on such topics as accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and opportunities and challenges facing high-tech industries, the WTO and intellectual property strategy, investment and industrialization of high technologies, information technology and the information industry, life sciences and the bio-technology industry, sustainable development and environmental protection in the 21st century.
Other activities including exhibitions of high technologies and high-tech products, a presentation of high-tech projects, and personnel exchanges will also be staged at the three-day forum.
China is promoting nearly 600 high-tech projects at the event, aiming to absorb overseas investment.
