The 2002 training workshop on small hydropower, part of technical cooperation among developing countries (TCDC), ended Monday in the city of Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.
Twenty-three technicians from 14 countries including Fiji, the Philippines, Indonesia, Bhutan and Kirghizia attended the 40-day workshop organized by the Hangzhou-based Small Hydropower Research and Training Center for the Asia-Pacific Region.
Apart from classroom study of China's experience in developing small hydropower, technicians also made a field trip to evaluate the country's power plants and power equipment manufacturers.
At the closing ceremony, students praised the workshop, saying that they had learned the basic technologies used in developing small hydropower plants and felt confident that they would apply their knowledge in their countries upon their return home.
There are currently more than 43,000 small hydropower plants in China with a combined installed capacity of more than 28 million kilowatts.
Since 1983, over 600 technicians from 60 countries have been trained by the center.
