"Shenwei I", an embedded 32-bit micro processor which represents the highest level of China's CPU developing, was lately put out by the Shanghai Fudan Microelectronics Co., Ltd. This marks a breakthrough in the "China chip" program, according to Xu Juyan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
The 32-bit "Shenwei I" is among the highest rank of CPU technology that of China's own intellectual property right, which serves as a platform on which future products would be extended indefinitely.
As a typical sophisticated circuit, the chip is completely compatible with the most popular X86 instruction set, as well as the most advanced X86-based CISC micro processor, Xu said. Its successful development would help to dramatically raise China's technological level on microprocessor and it can be widely used in the fields of industrial automation, electronic imaging, financial electronic product, intellectual terminal equipment and aviation.
