A Chinese mainland high-tech company said Thursday a new generation of disinfection technology the Ultraviolet C (UVC) disinfection technology can be an effective, safe and environmental-friendly way to inactivate most of bacteria, virus and pathogens in air, water and on solid surface.
The Fujian Newland Entech Co. Ltd, a private enterprise specializing in manufacturing UVC disinfection systems and providing total solution for the disinfection of air, water and solid surface, is the first and only UVC disinfection technology industrialization center in the Chinese mainland.
Chen Jian, general manager and chief scientist of Newland Entech, said when bacteria, virus, vermin, algae and other pathogenics are exposed to UVC radiation, their DNA structure will be destroyed so as to disinfect and purify air, water or solid surfaces without any chemical added.
With the advantages of high efficiency, less space, low cost, user-friendly, large flow rate and no residual effect, UVC technology has become a main disinfection means in developed countries since the end of the 1990s, he said.
Till now, the company has designed and produced six series of patented products based on the technology.
Since the first application of large UVC disinfection system in the Shanghai Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant in December 2000, there are more than 100 Newland UVC disinfection systems running in the mainland now.
