A 360-kilometer-long high-speed route has been opened on the lower reaches of Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province, the first of its kind in China. 

The move comes after traffic authorities decide to implement inland navigation management, which includes re-planning the section of waters and making separate routes for different ships.

Moreover, the act may help reduce accidents and raise the handling capacity of major ports on lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

In the past, various ships traveled in the same lane which led to frequent accidents because of congestion and disorder.
