New Guangzhou Railway Passenger Station to Be Built

The new Guangzhou Railway Passenger Station has received the permission from State Council to start the project.

The station, located in Zhongcun of Panyu District, will cost almost 14.8 billion yuan to build. The main building will be finished at the end of 2007 and put into use in 2008.

After completion, the station will become one of the four railway transport centers of China and also the largest train station in Asia. It will include 20 rail lines and 10 platforms.

Considering introduction of Guangzhou-Zhuhai, Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing Inter-City Express, the train station project is to solve the problem of transportation deficiency in Guangzhou and the Pearl River Delta area.

With the new Guangzhou Railway Passenger Station, the province's advanced metro, railway and highway networks will be well connected.
