Beijing Clears Up Its Metro Stations

Beijing Metro Operating Company has just wrapped up a month long clearing-up effort on the city's metro trains and stations.

The campaign has cleared out more than 11 thousand illegal newspaper sellers, beggars, and performers from subway trains and stations.

Previously all the newspaper stands and shops were removed from subway platforms for safety reasons, but the metro company says many peddlers and performers are still barring the entrances of the subway lines.

Currently Beijing has no regulations concerning maintaining metro safety or order.
