Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 1 Reopens

Passengers taking Flight CZ6125 of South Airlines from Dalian city pass the billboard of Domestic Arrivals in Terminal 1at Beijing Capital International Airport Sept.20, 2004.

Terminal 1 was reopened on the day after nearly 5 years out of service and 14 months of reconstruction.

The terminal will be jointly operated by Beijing Airport and China Southern Airlines.

All the domestic Flights of South Airlines, one of the three biggest airline companies in China, will port at Terminal 1 after its re-operation.

The newly upgraded terminal now boasts 50 check-in counters, 13 boarding gates and six baggage pick-up points.

With a designed annual capacity of 9 million, the Terminal will help relieve the pressure from Terminal 2 and is expected to have around 35 million arrivals and departures a year.

The airport also boasts passenger-friendly lounges with Internet connections, telephones and inexpensive food and drink.
