The official website documenting Macao's heritage was launched on Saturday. The website is aimed to encourage protection of historic sites. 

An official said she hoped the website help people better understand Macao's four hundred years of history, and encourage protection of historic sites.

The website has comprehensive information on historical architecture in Macao, pictures of old Macao and the legislation and policies that protect its cultural heritage.

This year is Macao's Cultural Heritage Protection Year.

A group of historic buildings in Macao is China's only nomination for World Heritage Listing in 2005.
