Guangji Temple

Standing on the southwest foot of Zheshan Hill in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, Guangji Temple was built during the reign of the Emperor Qian Ning (894-897) of the Tang Dynasty.

At that time, pilgrims on their way to Mount Jiuhua stopped here to pay their tribute first, so the hill became known as Little Mount Jiuhua.

The buildings were erected against the slope in three tiers. The Zheta Pagoda at the rear of the temple is claimed to be one of the eight most beautiful sights in Wuhu.

It is said that a priceless gold seal is stored somewhere inside the temple.
