Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic

December 31st 2007

Beijing's 10,000-seat Great Hall of the People welcomes Zubin Mehta, one of the world's most flamboyant conductors, for this special New Year concert.

Mr Mehta is no stranger to Beijing, or to Chinese audiences. In 1994 he and Itzhak Perlman, a violinist, headlined the Israel Philharmonic's first visit to China. Three years later Mr Mehta began a collaboration with Zhang Yimou, a Chinese film director, on a stage production of Puccini’s "Turandot". The production debuted in Florence and was then staged eight times in Beijing's Forbidden City, where the opera itself is set.

7.30pm, Great Hall of the People, Tiananmen Square. For details of ticket availability, call +86 (0)10 6417 7845 or send an email.
