Giant mouse to add festival cheer
Adjust font size:

A mouse king lantern will be built in Yuyuan Garden for the Spring Festival.

The lantern will be 4.5 meters high and be placed in the garden's central square to mark the Year of the Mouse, said Yuyuan Garden officials.

Different mouse lanterns will be placed throughout the garden, officials said.

Temple fair will start on February 7, the first day of the Lunar New Year, and continue until February 24. It will be the garden's largest fair ever as it will expand onto surrounding streets.

This year the fair will still sell tickets to limit visitors on February 21, the Lantern Festival, to ensure safety and allow traffic to flow better. Thousands of people are expected at Yuyuan Garden to celebrate the festival.

The fair will be free on the other days, said garden officials.
