How to Enjoy Ancient Chinese Gardens
Before visiting ancient Chinese gardens, travelers should try to learn in advance something about the gardens' cultural and historical background, and descriptions of their layout, through reading some relevant materials.

When visiting the gardens, travelers should follow routes that usually consist of corridors, roads and bridges. The main road is used to connect attraction areas, with branches to the scenic spots themselves.

Travelers also have to deal with the problem of moving to see or stopping to see. Visitors usually move to see in big ancient Chinese gardens while they stop to see in smaller ones. The former ones require travelers to enjoy sightseeing by moving along corridors or roads that are usually in zigzags, opening up different scenic panoramas, especially at turnings. The latter method requires travelers to stop to view the scenes at pavilions, terraces, towers and bridges.

Travelers should also give more thought to the gardens' artistic conception, especially those complicated compounds that usually require travelers to visit several times before they can understand the profound mystery in the gardens.
