Diaoshuilou Waterfall
The Diaoshuilou waterfall is situated near the outlets of Jingbo Lake southwest of Ningan County in the upper reaches of the Mudanjiang River in southeastern Heilongjiang River. Jingbo Lake was formed by the upriver waters of the Mudanjiang River as they were blocked from flowing down by the basaltic lava from volcanic eruptions. As the lake water floods over its two outlets in the north. it leaps down in two columns, each falling 20-25 meters in width of 40-45 meters. The roar of the waters as they pound at the plunge pools below can be heard kilometers away. The hydropower station built at the waterfall site is one of the largest of its kind in china.
