Macao to Promote "Tourism Week"
The "Macao Tourism Week" is set to be launched from Sept. 5 to 16, consisting of a series of activities aimed to promote tourism business and lure visitors.

Manuel Costa Antunes, director of the Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO), told a press conference Tuesday that an MGTO delegation will soon pay a visit to the China National Tourism Administration in Beijing to illustrate the most updated conditionof the Macao tourism industry and introduce to the inlanders the latest tourism products and facilities in Macao.

The second part of the "Tourism Week" will be an annual marketing meeting attended by 28 overseas representative offices of the MGTO. Their marketing performance and initiatives for next year will be mooted, the director said.

The "Macao Fireworks Fiesta 2002" will be another highlight event of the "Tourism Week," Antunes said, adding that it will enliven the daily life of local residents and draw overseas tourists.

The fireworks shows will be conducted by ten teams from countries such as Australia, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines and Portugal in the nights of every Saturday in September and on Oct. 1, the National Day at part of the seafront on the Macao Peninsula.
