The Concertante Chamber players, made up of musicians from Juilliard School, are to perform in Shanghai, with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra playing pieces by Bach, Brahms and Beethoven.
Chen Xieyang, artistic director and principal conductor of the Shanghai Symphony, will hold the baton for the concert.
The Concertante, founded in 1995, has won various awards in international competitions and has its headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Among the programme items for the concert, the Concerto for Violin and Cello is the last orchestral work by Brahms.
Beethoven's Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano was one of the first pieces of this type - three solo instruments with orchestral accompaniment. Beethoven didn't intentionally highlight any of the instruments in his Triple Concerto and the piano had a "discrete" status in the work, with a balancing role.
Nevertheless, complementing the two string instruments, the piano reveals its full potential and expansive acoustic domain.
