Potted flowers and varied mini-landscapes will on display in Yujinxiang Park (Tulip Park) from January 25 to February 15, 2003.

If you have your own car, you can join a racing contest at Jingang Motor City during the New Year and the Spring Festival.

Temple fair

The Chinese Folk Garden (Dongyue Temple) will hold a temple fair from January 1 to February 12 2003.

Local snacks and folk products will be the main attractions during the fair.

To get there: take bus routes 112, 109, 110 and 846 to Shenglujie Station.

Ethnic carnival

The 2003 Chinese Ethnic Groups Carnival will be held at the Chinese Ethnic Culture Museum from January 1 to February 12.

To get there, take bus routes 380, 2, 819 to the East Gate of the Beijing Olympic Sports Centre or 315, 345, 618, 804 to the park.

Great Wall climb

Time: Sunday, December 29.

Where: The Great Wall spur, Huairou County, north of Beijing.

Pick up: 8:30 am at the Lido outside Starbucks or 9:00 am at Capital Paradise (front gate).

This walk offers great views of three valleys and the villages in the nearby area.

The route: Not many people visit this part of the Great Wall, yet it's in very good condition.

This walk starts from a valley followed by an open trail going up to the Wall. When you get on the Wall you will follow a nice trail.
