The White-haired Girl to Be Staged
Young ballet dancers from the Shanghai Ballet are to present The White-haired Girl in Beijing, one of the earliest and classic Chinese ballets created by the troupe.

Listed in the repertoire of Shanghai Ballet, the ballet was premiered in 1965 and has clocked up a total of 1,400 performances. It has toured worldwide and won wide acclaim. This time a new group of international award-winning ballet dancers will feature.

Based on a true story, the ballet is about the struggle of a young woman before 1949 in China. She was bulldozed by her landlord, who kills her father and makes her become white-haired later. She then goes to hide in a cave for dozens of years until she finally sees the sunlight after liberation.

7:30 pm, Jan 24,25. Century Theatre (40 Liangmaqiaolu, Chaoyang District). Tel: 6466-4805, 6462-8470
