Canadian Landscape Painting Exhibition to Open

An exhibit of 66 landscape works by acclaimed painter Guo Shaogang will be featured from Friday through Feb.22 at the Shenzhen Museum.

"Those works are witnesses to my work since I moved to Canada in February 1999. I hope visitors can review my new explorations in oil painting after my retirement," Guo said. Guo spends six months in Canada and six months in Guangzhou annually.

Guo titled his exhibit Embracing Nature, and most of the pictures are oil paintings of landscapes in the Toronto and Vancouver areas.

The 72-year-old Guo retired as professor and president of the Guangzhou Institute of Fine Arts in 1992.

Since the 1960s, he has held more than 20 one-man shows in Guangzhou, Wuhan, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Australia and Canada.
