Illegal Taxi Driver Punished for Overcharging

An illegal taxi driver in the Chinese capital has been fined for ten thousand yuan, or about US$1,200 for overcharging a foreign passenger.

The offender picked up a Frenchman from the Capital Airport to the Holiday Inn Lido Hotel.

The distance should cost no more than 50 yuan, however, the cab driver charged 150 yuan, or about 18 US dollars.
