Digital TV Sets to Be Installed on Beijing Buses

Bus commuters will soon enjoy a variety of TV programs thanks to the Beijing transportation bureau's decision to install wireless digital televisions on buses starting next month.

Beijing bus commuters will soon enjoy a variety of TV programs, staving off boredom on the road, thanks to the municipal transportation bureau's decision to install wireless digital televisions on buses starting next month.

By June 1,000 buses covering 48 public transport lines will have televisions.

Each bus will install two liquid-crystal displays. When the vehicles' speed is less than 120 kilometers per hour, riders can enjoy high definition TV.

Given that commuters spend limited time on each bus trip, only brief programs and useful information rather than TV series will be broadcast.

The TV service will eventually be extended to 4,000 buses and to subways and taxis.
