German carrier Lufthansa has signed a deal with Shanghai Airlines.

The agreement will be effective from May 1st, giving both sides a better chance to further tap the growing Sino-German aviation market.

Presidents of both airlines say Lufthansa's cooperation with Shanghai Airlines will not affect its existing partnership with China's flag carrier, Air China.
