First Cholera Cases Reported in Guangzhou

Two cases of cholera have been confirmed in south China's city of Guangzhou.

These are the first cases of cholera that have emerged in the provinicial capital of Guangdong, which was the worst hit SARS region last year.

The two patients caught the disease while on an overseas holiday and are now isolated for treatment.

Other visitors in the same tour group are reportedly all free of the disease.

Symptoms of cholera include diarrhoea and abdominal pain.
