For Aviation Safety, Turn Off Your Phone!

A flight attendant from China Southern Airlines Hainan Company rang up Hainan Daily on Tuesday, hoping to warn people of the danger of using mobile phones when they travel by air.

She said she once found 5 passengers on a plane turn on their mobile phones during the one-hour journey. Some of them even did it during take-off or landing. They simply ignored the warning from the crew.

Let's look inside and see why you should heed those pretakeoff instructions to turn off your personal electronic devices.

Flight navigation disrupted. Instrument readings corrupted. Cockpit radio communications confused. All because some people didn't turn off their mobile phones.

She also suggested passengers should not smoke on airplanes, even in the plane toilets.
