Two Million Travelers Choose to "Fly" During Golden Week

In addition, on April 30, the eve of the holiday, airline operators received 409,000 travelers, the highest record of single day passenger flow.

During May 1 to 7, known as the golden week, China had taken off 20,559 flights, with 22 percent increase than that of 2002, according to the administration.

Airports in scenic spots, such as Sanya and Haikou in south China's island province of Hainan and Guilin in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, were very busy during the golden week, with many flights having 90 percent seats occupied.

The capital city of Beijing, east China's Shanghai, south China's Guangzhou became the busiest hub for flight transportation. On April 30, the Capital International Airport in Beijing sent 63,300 passengers, and 90.8 percent of seats were occupied.
