China Art Festival to Debut in Washington

The China Art Festival 2005 is jointly sponsored by China's Ministry of Culture and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Chinese ambassador to the US Yang Jiechi has inked a cooperation agreement with the Kennedy Center to officially start making preparations for the event.

A series of activities will be staged during the month-long festival, including performances, exhibitions, art education and dance. Music shows, visual art shows, literature and film events will also be put on.

It is expected to be the largest Chinese cultural event ever held in North America with the longest-schedule and the most acts.

Both sides expect the festival to boost bilateral cultural exchanges and understanding.
