Mark Starowicz, head of Documentary Production and senior producer at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, granted an exclusive interview with China.org.cn, discussing his vision about the future of broadcast communications in China, the acclaimed documentary series China Rises, and to share his opinions on the general state of Chinese media.

Having first visited China 12 years ago, Mr. Starowicz spoke highly of the rapid pace of change China had undergone, a pace which left him awe-struck during later visits. Mr. Starowicz also praised the general openness and candor with which Chinese individuals greeted his film crew and the enthusiasm they demonstrated when interviewed.

During his interview, Mr. Starowicz touched upon a great range of topics, such as areas in which he felt Chinese media could improve, the international reception of the China Rises documentary, his feelings about the rise of online media and even weighed in on the real name registration issue for bloggers.

Watch him being interviewed by Chris Dalby above.
