New A/H1N1 flu case reported in Fujian

The health authorities of east China's Fujian Province reported a new suspected A/H1N1 influenza case Saturday.

The case involved a 23-year-old Chinese man, who had studied in Canada.

The man left Toronto on Tuesday and arrived in Shanghai at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday on Air Canada flight AC087. He stayed at a hotel in Shanghai Wednesday night. He then took Xiamen Airlines flight MFA 8502 in the morning and arrived at the Gaoqi International Airport in Xiamen city, Fujian Province. Then he took a car with his relatives to go back home in Dehua County of Quanzhou city in the province.

On Friday morning, the man developed headache and a sore throat and went to a local hospital.

On Friday night, the man was tested positive for A/H1N1 flu by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention of Quanzhou.

The provincial Center of Disease Control and Prevention reexamined Saturday morning the results, which was also positive.

According to the provincial health authorities of Fujian, the man is still suffering from a cough, headache, sore throat and fatigue.

As of Friday afternoon, the mainland had 21 confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases.
